Our Mission Statement

"Parkwood Gardens Neighbourhood Group endeavours to develop a sense of community and enrich the health and well-being of families."

A Short History...

Parkwood Gardens Neighbourhood Group is a volunteer-run organization located in the west end of Guelph; our goal is to provide a variety of community-based programs to meet the needs of families and children in our neighbourhood. Our neighbourhood includes approximately 10,000 people in 2500 households in the areas near the Hanlon Expressway, Wellington, Whitelaw and Paisley Roads.

Our programs include an emergency food cupboard & clothing closet, youth programs, an after school homework program for elementary level children, activity and interest program for children, and adult programs. We also offer outreach for school-aged youth, parent-child playgroups, summer day camp, March Break and PD day camps, and various community-building events.

The community initially came together to address concerns regarding youth vandalism in 1996 and have since been organizing recreational programs and events for children and youth in the neighbourhood. Programs are located in area schools, the West End Community Centre and the Parkwood Gardens Church.
